Scotland Trip
The 79th Highlanders, New York Volunteers have been invited to participate in a series of events honoring their regiment, and all Scottish and British Immigrants that fought in the American Civil War. In particular we will be honoring the Campbell Brothers, Alexander and James. Alexander and James Campbell were born in Crieff, Perthshire, and immigrated to the US as teenagers, Alexander to New York, and James to Charleston. When the war broke out, they found themselves on opposite sides, Alexander in the 79th Highlanders NYV, and James in the 1st South Carolina Infantry.
The tentative date for this trip is August of 2012.
Following are our planned activities while in Scotland:

The organization will be working hard at raising funds to reduce the per person cost, but we do expect all those going on this trip to help raise funds as well. We will be holding a Funraising Raffle to allow our Members to sell tickets to cover their expences.
This trip to Scotland will also have many logistical hurdles. We have identified most of them, uniforms, rifles, food, lodging, transportation, Etc, but there may be surprises as we procede.
Anyone wishing to help us make this trip possible should visit our “Friends Of The Cameron Highlanders Of The Northwest” Page in this website.
