Social Events

The Cameron Highlanders of the Northwest hold several social events throught the year. We hold these events to allow our families and friends that don’t reenact to get together with those of us that do, and share some fun while getting to know each other.

Every year we have a Burns Supper Family Potluck in January, a Summer Family Potluck and Ceilidh in July the evening after the Portland Highland Games, and a Christmas Family Potluck and Ceilidh sometime in December. Ceilidh (kay-lee), is a Gaelic work that means “visit”. A Gaelic “visit” means eating, singing, piping, dancing, and maybe a wee dram.

We also often get together for other events: Hogmanay (New Years Eve); a Memorial Day Family Campout; Samhuinn in October (sow-en: Celtic New Year); and Saint Andrew’s Night in November.
